here is my set up, i opted out of the third hammerhead tank.

this is just what i have to get to know what im doing playing tau i will eventually add some body guards and other units, i might be picking up some oop tau stealth suits just to have an elite unit.

Crisis Suit Commander shas'o 75pts
Multi Tracker 5pts
Twin Linked Fusion Blaster 18pts
shield generator 20pts
Gun Drone x2 20pts

Troops - 301

Hammerhead Tank 1 -

Hammerhead Tank 2 -

Here's the Shas'el I ran
targetting array
Cyclic Ion
Plasma Rifle
Hard wired multi-tracker

Cheap, and will mulch MEq.

You're light on S6-S8 weaponry. for your third heavy slot, I'd recommend a sky-ray, and get yourself some pathfinders for sure... in 5th ed, they're the best thing the Tau have going for them. You can deny cover saves at will in an edition where cover is the biggest thing that keeps stuff alive. Also, the flechette dischargers are generally a waste of 10 points, in your list, 30... You could get 3 more fire warriors for that, or a stealth suit.

The problem Tau face in this edition is that they're over-priced, so you need to take bare bones stuff to get on the table and compete with the newer codexes.

One of my armies at the NOVA Open.

Just starting to convert a Draigo-wing army out of some old terminators.

@Agerstone, If you want to run regular vanilla marines and do well consider running a list based around Vulkan. Personally I find Salamanders to be the only sort of vanilla marine list that can compete with the newer, shinier MEQ codexes. Heres a good sample list:
Librarian Null Zone, The Avenger 100
Vulkan 190
5 Terminators Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield 200
10 Tactical Marines Meltagun, Missile Launcher, Sergeant Combi, Las Plas Razor 260
10 Tactical Marines Meltagun, Missile Launcher, Sergeant Combi, Las Plas Razor 260
5 Scouts Camo Cloaks, Missile Launcher 100
Dreadnought Twin Linked Autocannons 125
Dreadnought Twin Linked Autocannons 125
Land Speeder Multi-Melta, Heavy Flamer 70
Land Speeder Multi-Melta, Heavy Flamer 70
2 Attack Bikes Multi-Melta 100
Predator Lascannon Sponsons 120
Land Raider Redeemer Extra Armor, Multi-Melta 275

So the terminators and the HQ's hop in the raider for a nice deathstar and counter assault. The list has 9 Meltas, 5 of which are Multi-Meltas. It has 3 Missile Launchers, 6 Lascannons and 8 twin-linked Autocannon shots. It has very nice vehicle saturation, it can out shoot many armies and it will also hold up in combat with the Terminator squad being able to smash just about any unit in the game. I also think Vulkan is a ton of fun to play as. Give it a try! You can proxy out a bunch of the stuff

in prep for the mass spraydown of models tomorrow i have started doing conversions, snipped the plasma pistol of the chaplain and added a death company bolt pistol, scrapped the regular back pack on the 2005 gamesday vet im using as capt tycho and added a death company one, and have decided to go with a bone color for the death company instead of the regular black and red. I want them to stand out over other BA armys i know one chapter has death company that are in white power armor but i cant think off the top of m head which one.

Looks sweet. I always liked darker colored Blood Angels armies. Still traditional scheme, but just darker colors. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the army come together, especially if you're gonna do Encarmine style Death Company.

here it is all together so far

1x Captain Tycho conversion
1x Lemartes guardian of the lost
1x Sanguinary Priest conversion/Chain Sword/ Storm Bolter
5x Death Company/Jump Packs/Bolt Pistols/Chain Swords
6x Tactical Marines/Sergeant with Power Fist/Plasma Pistol
1x Death Company Dreadnought/ Blood Talons/Melta/Storm Bolter/Magna Grapple
1x Drop Pod/Missle Launcher instead of Storm Bolter

i was short a few shoulder pads so i used some arm armor from the dreadnought to make shoulder pads that look like old heresy style shields, i used these for the tac marine sergeant and the sanguinary priest.

Warmachine is fucking awesome, it has literally made me want to give up 40k, the models are more on my painting level the gameplay is was easier to pick up on and you dont need copious amounts of models to field an army thats legal.

I have a Khador Juggernaught and the war caster from the battle group box coming in the mail. I think im going to do an all warjack army.

welcome to the other side! hahaa

just a warning khador actually doesn't run warjacks all that well, the most you see in 90% of khador armies is 2.

if you really want to run jacks, menoth can field a ridiculous amount

Warhammer fuckin esez, I got into the hobby little over a year ago and bought a pretty hefty amount of things. Currently, I work two jobs and the bruv I was playing with moved away. SOOO, the point of all of that is I want to unload my 40k thangs to recoup a little of the cost Ive spent. I bought a good amount of used items from a Games Workshop "garage sale" day, where you can buy used items from other players, but it has to go into GWS gift cards to further better the store. Win win for everyone. I bought essentially a 2k CSM army and would like to sell it for a very cost friendly price. I have tons of basic units, Khrone berzerkers, a unit of Plague marines, a land raider, a demon prince, Abbadon and some other lords, and a slew of other shit. I also have the newest instruction manual, and the CSM codex which are both in great shape. When I bought some of the items they were painted and I went through the trouble of simply green stripping the paint. I have since stripped most of the bases and gave all units a base coat of black GWS spray primer. I was going to go with a dark army color, Nurgle style type idea, hence the black primer. All items are in pretty good shape and I will add in all the extra arms, guns, legs and what not from all the extra units I have. I also have some unused GWS brushes I might throw in for free if someone takes this off my hands.

Anyone interested email me at grosserthangross@gmail.com and I can get you a list of every piece I have in the army and send photos. I dont log into the board that often and probably wouldnt notice a PM as soon as I can respond to an email. Anyone just starting off would benefit well from this because you could play a game right out of the box with this set. 100% no rip off bullshit. Thanks for reading.

World Peace.

Everyone here use to order from the uk from stores like wayland and maelstrom because it was at least 50% cheaper then buying from a gws here so gws put a ban on all euro stores selling to us, trying to force us back to their stores..
No way in hell I'm paying $62AU ($66US) for a tactical squad, so I'm stuck waiting for wayland to get their loophole in place which they said would be up months ago

I feel like GW are going down a road that will see them loose alot of players and customers of warhammer and the like. After all the failcast shenanigans i dont really think they will be improving their game anytime soon.

The PrivateerPress stuff is really nice all metal or resin minis i feel like im getting more bang for my buck with them. The games are more user friendly and with all the hate towards GW right now im seeing alot of people pick up Warmachine.

Warmachine is alright..

But competitive 40k > other competitive miniature wargaming.

The independent 40k tournament circuit is great right now. Check out the NOVA Open or Adepticon

So for my Space Wolf army I really wanted to steer away from baby blue ginger guidos. I really like the old 2nd edition style of wolves and the 13th company in the eye of terror dex. So, I plan on writing up my own fluff about my army, a lost company led by a crazed rune priest obsessed with the hunt for Russ, the end of times and with the tales of Bjorn The Fell Handed. Not so much renegades but more just a group who's fell apart from the chapter in their single minded search for the primarch. They're just left to roam the galaxy, preparing for Ragnarok and scavenging equipment and supplies where they can.

Thanks, i've been thinking about highlighting with pp's blue grey color, but I actually like the muddy/dirty/dark look they have. I'm definitely not a technically good painter but I really like the attitude and atmosphere my army has. My blood claws have a lot of red on them but even then it's a dirty dark mechrite type color.

So after a couple months of collecting and assembling. I did the math last night and I have 2k points chaos SM. not an optimized list but still fun. I get to try it out this Saturday. Thoughts?
Hq-kharn
Troops
2x10 PM w/ champion/power sword, 2 flame throwers(second squad has melta), rhino
10 berzerkers w/champ, fist, Mbombs
7x zerkers w/champ fist Mbombs
HS
Land raider
3obliterators
1dread w/heavy flame, auto cannon, extra armor
FA
8raptors w/champ, light claws, 2xmelta.

Idea is kharn and 7zerkers go inthe land raider, oblits support the middle. And the raptors D/S and tank hunt. PM hold objective/support in rhino where needed.
