I'm looking for a drummer for a new band based in Western Massachusetts. We're open to anyone from the WMass area (Pioneer Valley or Berkshire County), Albany/Capital District, Southern VT, or the surrounding areas.

Trying to do something along the lines of late 90s/early 2000s emo/post-hardcore. Think bands like Small Brown Bike, The Get Up Kids, Braid, and The Casket Lottery. We're fairly open musically, but those are just some of the bands that we collectively enjoy.

If you live in this general area, have gear (and preferably a car), get in touch. We've all been in past bands or are in mildly active bands, and we're just looking to play out and write more.

Send me a PM or an email (tysonluneau@gmail.com) if you're interested.

Are there any good rugs to get for my set? I got one for like $2 at some liquidation center and the thing just slides around like crazy.

pro-tip: don't fold your mat, roll it up. I folded mine and it ended up cracking in the middle.. I don't really care though cause I have had 3 years out of it.

Never heard of musiciansfriend, homie? haha, I've ordered shit from them since I was like 13. They have big packs that come with like 20 pair of sticks...not the best, obviously, but they are pretty sturdy and decent.

This.

We do have some webshops that sell pretty cheap but you still pay around 11 bucks for a pair pro marks.

Gear is just really expensive overhere..

I was too late with ordering sticks for my current tour so I bought 12 pairs of zildijan sticks off my buddy whos endorsed. Yesterday at the first show I broke 3 sticks. Normally my pro Mark sticks last 2 shows... 9 more to go. Fuck.

I know everyone has their preference, but I have always loved Vater drumsticks. I used to use Zildjian sticks and the Vaters last much longer and are far more consistent from pair to pair.

I vote DW. The 9000 is such a solid and reliable pedal. I am also a fan of Sonor's giant step pedals.

Go with whatever feels right to you. Pedals are such a personal choice that letting someone choose for you is a bad idea. I personally use Iron Cobras since I think DW hardware is pointlessly expensive and has generally not lasted very well for me, but that's just my personal preference and ultimately what feels best for you is what's most important.

dw 9000 series hardware is the only hardware i will use. the only issue i have ever had was a dogbone that lost clamping strength because i tightened it too much over a matter of like 10 years. everything else has been incredible, plus its the best looking hardware you can get.

zildjian sticks are pretty garbage imho. I actually really like the size and weight of the travis barker sticks and the super 5b's they make but the wood selection is pretty poor. Some of the sticks would just break within minutes, others would last a few shows.

If you can get to guitar center they will have pro-marks in stock for most sizes and they price match the lowest online prices. (also they own musiciansfriend so you can at least get the same price as musiciansfriend)

good luck! gear in europe pretty much seems to be the $ list price, in euros. Very terrible. I bought heads in ireland to give to the guy who loaned me his kit and it was like 150 euros for 4 remo heads. ugh.

9000 series rules. I have been abusing mine for 3 years now and it still looks pretty decent. Their hi-hat clutches strip out after a while (aluminum on steel isn't a good combo). The plastic cymbal tilter knob will break too if it gets jostled around in the case to much. I keep a few spares on hand incase they break, and I try to keep the boom portion of my stands separate from the bases in transit.

Other than that everything is good (including my dogbone). I am really abusive to my hardware I basically throw the stands into my hardware case and then the case gets thrown around in the trailer.

DW shit is fucking heavy though which is a blessing and a curse. If you have to take it up stairs it SUUUCCCKKS. The only other hardware I really like is the pearl 900 series stuff. It is light weight, looks good, and holds up pretty well. I have it on my practice kit and I would count on it for gigs.

Tama Roadpro hardware is rock solid, especially for the price. If you can afford DW hardware, maybe you can afford a sherpa to move that stuff for you.

I played both before I bought one and I love my decision to buy the 5000. It has held up for so long and I've had no issues with it. The 9000 is worth the extra cash if you have the money though.
