Yeah, I did. We graduated in 2005. I had a few classes with her and worked pretty close with her in Journalism. Also, I'm glad this is all over the internet. That's the point. | | Back to top

Good luck to your friend, hopefully she can beat the odds | | Back to top

Her response and fear about not wanting to die, the conditions of February where she will want to do things she hasn't been able to, the fear of "leaving things behind," and especially the comments that over and over ask her "not to give up". There is hardly anything more interesting to me than the way people respond to and deal with death, especially when they know, roughly, when they are going to die. Something changed between her "knowing" she was going to die (was always dying) and knowing she is going to die. Something about the proof of her condition, or illness, or the words of authority figures, and public sympathy all came together in some way to identify to her that yes, indeed, she is going to die.
Anyway, one way or the other, whatever does end up happening to her, I hope that her fear subsides. | | Back to top

It is recommended that you donate $100 because that is how much it costs to put you into the registry, but the $100 isn't required to give the bone marrow. | | Back to top

There was something about American Express donating money and being able to cover some donations this month. I can afford it next month probably, though there is next to no chance I would be a match for her given that she's Asian and I'm White. But my Mom has a friend who was recently in need of a b.m. transplant so that made me want to do it. All I can promise is that I'll be in the registry and without a doubt willing to donate to anyone that comes up a match soon. | | Back to top

This. I hope she finds a donor as this is really sad, but what makes it sad is her fear of dying (which is natural, of course). I hope that if she doesn't find a donor soon she handles her fear better and spends that precious time she has left surrounded by people that love her, rather than panicking and leaving this world scared and stressed. Anyway though I really, really want her to find a donor I give blood but I've never given bone marrow, after watching this video it'll be the first thing I do. | | Back to top

To get into the registry they just have to swab your mouth. If you sign up online they send you a kit, you swab your mouth and send it back. Then they contact you if you come up as a match. Only like 1 in every 500 people in the registry ever get called as a match. Then if you dost thou either give an advanced sort of blood donation or you get a spinal tap. Basically you feel a little shitty for 2-3 weeks but there is a good chance you save someone's life. | | Back to top

I can't believe more people aren't registering to find out if they're a match to help her or someone else in need. I bet if she was in a band or crew and got arrested people would be all over this . But I digress, I'm not here for some stupid hardcore argument. | | Back to top

Truth. Does anyone have any (good) news on the progress so far in finding her a match? | | Back to top

I wish I could register and see if I'm a match but with my recent spinal complications I am doubtful. Are there any places that do it for free?
